One woman's 22 day journey from diagnosis to decision
....
Classification: Fiction
"Leonie Thompson's journey from ignorance to awareness of a disease that could kill her ... is totally involving. And that's down to the quality of the story telling."
Jan Hallam, Sunday Times STM Magazine 16.07.06
Leonie Thompson is wrenched from her everyday life
when she discovers a lump in her breast. She is diagnosed with breast
cancer. Confident in her circle of loving family and friends, she
counts on their support and expects to recover.
Over the course of 22 days, her medical and personal
conflicts escalate as her world is torn apart. Searching among traditional
and alternative medicines, she has to decide how to extend her life.
Where is the support she yearns for and needs?
Her husband Ike, and seventeen-year old daughters, Brianna and Cora,
grapple with the diagnosis and the threat of loss. When she turns
to her friends, Leonie feels pushed in different directions. Forced
to make a decision, she finds out who her real friends are.
This is the story of the different ways people
react to devastating news and how it affects relationships and dreams.
